These boxes were first made for a group exhibition called International Boxes at the Scottish Gallery in January 2008. I continue to make new variations on the form, experimenting with glaze colour and pattern. The compositions envelop the boxes allowing them to act as deep containers or shallow trays. The origin of the forms are oriental boxes with shallow bases and deep lids traditionally used for holding an object or small sculpture. Photography: Shannon Tofts
