For the Covepark Artists in Schools Residency 2013 I was invited to work with artist Deirdre Nelson at Parklands Special Needs School in Helensburgh. We were asked to develop a response which would contribute toward the schools efforts to win an Eco Schools Flag and also create a visually stimulating feature within the playground. Working closely with the staff and pupils we devised the idea of Bloomin Rubbish, a garden of colourful interactive blooms made from recycled bottle tops. Work commenced for one month in March 2013 and the final install was completed in September 2013. Further information about the project can be found on the bloomin rubbish facebook page. Thanks go to Sally Hacket for assisting with the installation.
